Ever increasing global competition requires that products be produced more quickly, more economically, and with more custom tailoring according to the customers’ wishes. For this reason the products themselves and their production processes have become more complicated. Developing the quality of products and their production processes is necessary in international competition; scrap and bad quality cannot be tolerated. The TOPINS PDM module brings extremely useful problem-solving tools and methods for every-day transparencies quality inspections. TOPINS PDM is a tool to track and control data related to a transparencies. The data tracked involves all technical specifications of the product, specifications for manufacture and development, and types of materials that will be required to produce goods. The use of product data management allows a company to track the various costs associated with the creation and launch of a product.

Within TOPINS PDM the focus is on managing and tracking the creation, change and archive of all information related to a transparencies. The information being stored and managed will include engineering data such as (CAD) models, drawings, images of optical testing and their associated documents.

TOPINS PDM serves as a central knowledge repository for process of quality inspection history, and promotes integration and data exchange among all business users who interact with transparencies — including project managers, engineers, sales people, buyers, and, first of all, transparencies quality inspection teams. The central database will also manage metadata such as owner of a file and release status of the transparencies. This enables automatic reports on product costs, etc. Furthermore, PDM enables companies producing complex products to spread product data into the entire PLM launch-process. This significantly enhances the effectiveness of the launch process.
